A range graded proportional circle map uses a set number of circles to convey the magnitude of the information. Each circle corresponds to a geographically distinct area. The map above shows the total murders per state, in the United States in 2009. The viewer can see that California and Florida are two states with some of the highest murders taken place in 2009.
